I can't stop planting things!!! my partner, S, now says that I have built my last bed and now must lie in them. I just finished it this morning with a little help from my friends. This is the cutest bed yet!! It is a pentagon shape or a star made from parts of pallets and hinges that I absconed from the twins (the tomato beds). Between the pentagon and with the bookcase bed that needed to be filled i put almost another whole yard of soil into the beds and I am pretty excited on how much space I have and what I have been able to plant so far.
In the bookcase bed: my potatoes are popping up, i found two true blue that just came up still waiting for the fingerling to give me a sign of happiness. So far just have new dirt and compost (and worms like crazy). This is where I am planning on putting cucumbers -2 and squash -3. Along with the peppers once it warms up. dag nab it.
West twin is looking good but I am wondering about the lettuce and how much longer that will last with the summer hopefully coming on soon (please please please). I am going to thin out the green onion patches.
East twin: the beans and peas are looking wonderful. They all look so happy and yesterday I was out in the garden and they were just popping open and perking up. Even the basil is looking better than it was and maybe I should add the next one to it?
Pentagon: has all new dirt and compost and I mixed in the compost while surrounded by a bunch of birds including a scrub jay and a couple of robins that were eye balling all the worms coming from k's compost.
On the fence I am planning on having some beans and peas. My daisies are looking ok and about to burst and the roses I have chopped back (again) to keep all the black spot away, but are blooming. go figure
A great weekend for gardening even though the sun only came out for a minute or two.
